The Retro Computer Museum can host private events at our head quarters for up to 25 adults/children where we have a permanent display of up to 30 different computers and consoles available for hands-on gaming. This is ideal for activities such as Birthday parties, pre-Stag Do competitions or any other reason to get together and have a bit of fun. All attendees get a "party bag".

Please contact us at for details of services and prices.

The Retro Computer Museum has been hosting its own public events since 2008, initially in the village of Swannington and more recently at the Snibston Discovery Museum. These are open to the general public and raise much needed funds for the charity.

The last weekend event at Snibston Discovery Museum was attended by over 250 people and helped to raised funds for the charity.

Please see the event feedback threads on our forums for past events and our Forthcoming Events page for details of the next public event.

The Retro Computer Museum has an excellent track record in hosting educational events for students from KS1 up to A2 covering the history and evolution of the home computers and consoles from the 1970s to the 1990s.

A hosted event can be tailored to the learning objectives of any formal or informal curriculum - our most popular style is a presenter-led walk through the history looking at the volume of systems throughout the 20 year span and comparing the capabilities of the systems as technology progresses. This format is a full day event and includes 3 hands-on sessions as we "light up" a selection of machines from each era of the home computing/gaming timeline with the final session involving 30 different machines and lasting until the end of the day.

  • Scale: 30+ Systems as appropriate and a limit of around 25 students. Staff numbers are not counted.
  • Pricing: £7.50 per student with £50 non-refundable deposit.
  • Catering: We can provide drinks and snacks for purchase throughout the day, but can not yet provide full catering facilities.

Alternatively we can also bring a small selection of systems into school and run a number of sessions onsite. This allows multiple classes and years to be part of the experience without having to arrange a school trip. Availability of our staff is the only limiting factor as we are staffed entirely by volunteers. All of our equipment is PAT tested as required.

  • Pricing: Depends on duration and travel costs incurred.

Please contact us to discuss your requirement.

The Retro Computer Museum can attend your event and bring with us a number of retro systems for your visitors/guests to experience. This could be a dedicated retro event, a corporate event, team building event or a private function/party.

Retro Computer Museum attendance at somebody else's event is assumed to be a single day event, where we will not be responsible for selling tickets or marketing the event but access to the venue by us will be free of charge and we will be requested to bring a set number of systems to meet customer requirement.

Prices may vary depending on the number of systems required at any particular event, whether or not we need to supply tables/chairs and thus the impact to our transport costs.

Please contact us for further information and enquiries regarding your event requirements.
